Where can I get audio suitable for animating dialogue?
I can’t provide copyrighted audio from live-action movies or TV series. Using that audio without permission can infringe copyrights.
Alternatives you can use for animating dialogue:
- Public domain films and recordings. Many early films and radio dramas are public domain and free to use.
- Creative Commons–licensed audio (look for CC0 or CC BY licenses that allow reuse). Sites: FreeSound, Internet Archive, Wikimedia Commons.
- Stock dialogue or voice clips from royalty-free libraries (e.g., Pond5, Storyblocks) — check license terms for reuse in your project.
- Text-to-speech (TTS) with expressive voices. Modern TTS can produce natural-sounding dialogue and you can edit timing easily.
- Hire voice actors (freelance marketplaces like Fiverr, Voices.com) to record custom lines tailored to your animation.
- Record your own actors or friends — gives full control and clear rights.
- Use dialogue extraction tools on audio you legally own to isolate speech (only if you have the rights to use that source).
If you tell me the style/era/character types and whether you need free or paid options, I can suggest specific sources, keywords to search, or sample TTS settings to achieve the sound you want.
