When were black people slaves

The history of Black slavery is extensive and varies by region and context. In the Americas, the transatlantic slave trade, which forcibly brought millions of Africans to the New World, began in the early 16th century and continued into the 19th century. In the United States, chattel slavery was formally established in the early 1600s and continued until the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 and the subsequent ratification of the 13th Amendment in 1865, which abolished slavery. In other parts of the world, including Africa and the Middle East, various forms of slavery have existed for centuries. For example, during the Islamic conquests from the 7th century onward, slavery was also a part of societies in those regions. It's important to recognize that while Black slavery has specific historical contexts, it is just one part of a broader history of slavery and human exploitation that has existed across cultures and centuries.
