what is stakeholder salience model

The Stakeholder Salience Model is a business strategy tool that helps organizations assess the relative power and importance of stakeholders. This model helps create a strategy to engage stakeholders with the greatest influence to move an organization in a desired direction without alienating others. It includes six core elements: power, urgency, legitimacy, salience, issue, and risk. It can also be used to determine how resources should be allocated and whether or not certain stakeholders should be actively engaged. The model identifies which stakeholders should be prioritized due to their high levels of power and legitimacy, helping to ensure that stakeholders with the greatest potential to impact the organization’s goals are given more attention. The model is also useful for analyzing a company’s stakeholder relationships and determining how to best manage and engage key stakeholders.
