What is molecular formula
A molecular formula is a representation of a chemical compound that shows the types and numbers of atoms present in a molecule. It indicates the specific elements in the compound and the number of each type of atom. For example, the molecular formula of water is \( \text{H}_2\text{O} \), which indicates that each molecule of water contains two hydrogen (H) atoms and one oxygen (O) atom. Molecular formulas provide more information about a compound than empirical formulas, which only convey the simplest whole-number ratio of elements.
