What is hollow earth

The "Hollow Earth" theory is a concept suggesting that the Earth is entirely or partially hollow and that there are substantial interior spaces. This idea has been present in various forms throughout myth, literature, and pseudo-scientific theories. Historically, the Hollow Earth concept gained popularity in the 17th century and was notably promoted by figures such as Edmond Halley, who proposed that the Earth consists of a shell with inner concentric spheres and possibly even inhabited areas within. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, various authors, such as Jules Verne and Edgar Rice Burroughs, incorporated hollow Earth themes in their fiction. The theory has been largely discredited by modern science. Geological and seismic studies, as well as our understanding of physics and gravity, support the idea that the Earth is solid and consists of several layers, including the crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core, all of which contribute to the planet's overall structure and function. Despite its lack of scientific credibility, the Hollow Earth theory continues to capture public imagination and is sometimes referenced in conspiracy theories and popular culture.
