Tsar bomb place of explosiion

The Tsar Bomb was detonated on October 30, 1961 at the Sukhoy Nos cape, a remote location on the Mityushikha Bay in the Novaya Zemlya archipelago. Novaya Zemlya is a group of islands located in the Arctic Ocean, belonging to the Russian Federation. The bomb was dropped from a Tu-95V bomber plane flying at an altitude of 10,500 meters. The bombing site was carefully chosen to minimize the impact on inhabited areas and to ensure that the blast could be accurately measured. Sukhoy Nos cape, where the Tsar Bomb was detonated, is located on the northeastern part of Novaya Zemlya, approximately 55km north of the village of Severny on the island of Maly Vaygach. It is a desolate and uninhabited area with limited access. The nearest city is Arkhangelsk, located on the mainland of Russia, over 1,000 km away. Today, the area is still closed to the public due to the high levels of radiation present from the explosion. Several scientific expeditions have been conducted in the area to study the long-term effects of the blast on the environment and wildlife. The crater left by the explosion is still visible today and can be seen on satellite images. It has a diameter of 2km and a depth of 100m. The radiation levels in the area have decreased over time, but it is still considered a hazardous area and is closely monitored by Russian authorities.
