Just days after making his return to professional golf in the TGL indoor golf final, PGA Tour legend Tiger Woods was involved in a rollover car accident near his home in Jupiter, Florida, according to authorities.
Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek confirmed the incident occurred Friday afternoon when the driver of a Land Rover attempted to overtake a pickup truck towing a pressure cleaner trailer at a high speed on a two-lane road. After the crash, the driver of the Land Rover managed to crawl out of the passenger door and was identified as Tiger Woods.
Reports indicate that Woods exhibited signs of “impairment” at the scene, although officers did not suspect alcohol involvement. He later registered a 0.00 on a breathalyzer test but declined to provide a urine sample.
As a result, Woods has been charged with DUI with property damage and refusing to submit to a lawful test. Sheriff Budensiek stated he would remain in custody for at least eight hours, describing Woods as “cooperative but not attempting to incriminate himself.” This incident follows Woods’ single-car crash in February 2021, where he sustained severe injuries to his lower body, including multiple fractures in his right leg, requiring extensive surgery.
Woods has faced numerous injuries throughout his career, with the most recent being a ruptured Achilles tendon in March 2025 and back surgery in October. His appearance at the TGL finals was his first return to professional golf since those setbacks.
With the Masters approaching, Woods has not confirmed whether he will compete at Augusta National this spring as he continues to recover but has kept the possibility open in recent weeks.
