Media reports indicate that Joe Kent had been leaking information and was increasingly sidelined in the Trump administration.
Aishah Hasnie of Fox News shared on X that “a senior administration official told FOX that Joe Kent was a known leaker and had been excluded from POTUS intelligence briefings months ago.”
She further stated, “He has not participated in any discussions or briefings regarding Iran.”
Hasnie also mentioned, “The White House informed DNI Tulsi Gabbard that he should be dismissed over suspected leaks, but no action was taken.”
Kent’s exit from his role as the director of the National Counterterrorism Center has been described by several reports as a positive turn, eliminating one more source of leaks in Washington.
Following his resignation, Kent expressed his opposition to the ongoing war in Iran on X, stating, “I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.”
Nebraska Republican Rep. Don Bacon quickly voiced his approval of Kent's departure, stating, “Good riddance. Iran has murdered more than a thousand Americans. Their EFP land mines were the deadliest in Iraq. Anti-Semitism is an evil I detest, and we surely don’t want it in our government.”
