Question why is the sky blue

The sky appears blue due to a phenomenon called Rayleigh scattering. When sunlight enters the Earth's atmosphere, it interacts with molecules and small particles in the air. Sunlight, or white light, is made up of different colors, each with different wavelengths. Colors like blue have shorter wavelengths than colors like red. Because blue light is scattered in all directions more than other colors when it hits air molecules, the sky appears predominantly blue to our eyes. During sunrise and sunset, the light from the sun has to pass through more of the Earth's atmosphere, scattering the shorter blue wavelengths and allowing the longer red and orange wavelengths to be more prominent, which causes the sky to appear red or orange at these times.
