Nick Carraway Identify one scene from the movie that you enjoyed or found interesting. Explain why it stood out to you and if it captured the essence of the book.
One scene from the movie that I enjoyed was when Daisy and Gatsby interact for the first time after a five-year absence. This scene captures the tension between the two characters and their longing for each other. The longing is underlined by the atmospheric music, the incandescent lighting, and the way Daisy and Gatsby can barely contain their emotions. This scene captures the essence of the book and is central to the story, as it marks the start of Gatsby's infatuation with Daisy which eventually leads to his downfall. Through this scene, we are able to fully experience not only the characters' pain at having been apart for so long, but the hopefulness they feel for the future.
