Cloud Native Computing Foundation The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing cloud native computing. Founded in 2015, the CNCF serves as the home for popular open source projects such as Kubernetes, Prometheus, and Envoy. Its mission is to create and foster a community to help enable cloud native applications across different software environments. CNCF operates a number of initiatives and programs, including: 1. CNCF Projects: The CNCF hosts a variety of open source projects that are crucial to building cloud native applications. These projects fall into three categories: incubating projects, which are still in the early stages of development; graduated projects, which have reached a certain level of maturity and adoption; and sandbox projects, which are experimental projects that are still being evaluated. 2. Kubernetes: Kubernetes is an open source container orchestration system developed by Google that is now maintained by the CNCF. It provides a platform for automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications. 3. Events: The CNCF hosts a number of conferences, workshops, and meetups around the world to bring together developers, end users, and vendors to discuss the latest trends and developments in cloud native computing. 4. Certification: CNCF offers certification programs for individuals and organizations to validate their expertise in cloud native technologies. 5. End User Community: CNCF has an active end user community where organizations can share their experiences, best practices, and challenges in adopting cloud native technologies. 6. Landscape: The CNCF maintains a landscape of all the projects and incubating projects in the cloud native ecosystem, providing a comprehensive view of the technology landscape. 7. Diversity: The CNCF is committed to increasing diversity in the technology industry and has programs in place to promote diversity and inclusion within the community. 8. Training: CNCF offers a range of training programs, including online courses, workshops, and webinars, to help individuals and organizations learn about cloud native technologies and best practices. By promoting the use of open source projects and fostering a vibrant community, CNCF is helping to accelerate the adoption of cloud native computing and enable organizations to build and manage modern applications at scale.
