The movie does a great job of conveying the luxuriousness of Gatsby’s mansion, accurately showing the extravagance and opulence of the lifestyle of the rich and famous. The grandeur of the house is brought to life, with the ballroom, staircase, and balconies all working together to create the perfect atmosphere for Gatsby’s parties. The contrast between Gatsby’s house and Nick's cottage helps to paint a picture of the immense wealth gap between the two characters. In addition, the movie does an excellent job of bringing the atmosphere and mood of the novel onto the screen. The intensity of Gatsby and Daisy’s encounter is shown clearly, as is the discomfort of Nick in the midst of it all. Additionally, the movie does an excellent job of showcasing the glitz and glamour of the Roaring 20s, particularly in the scenes of Gatsby’s wild parties. Finally, the movie creates a sense of foreboding and dread as the consequences of Gatsby’s ambition start to catch up with him.
